It has been EIGHT beautiful years since I created Project Red Balloon and it is with an incredibly heavy heart that I step down as executive director in June 2014 to focus on other ambitions (i.e. residency!). I’ve worked and met with so many great people, musicians and patients and would not trade my experiences for anything.
After 8 years, I hoped I convinced you that ordinary people really can do extraordinary things.
I really hope you also find your extraordinary opportunity too.
More details about the future of Red Balloon,
With the recent devastation of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, we will be cancelling our Red Balloon fundraiser until further notice. We deeply are saddened by this natural disaster and would rather see the donations going to help those displaced from the disaster. All donations sent via Causevox and through Red Balloon directly will be refunded. If you do not hear from us about your donation by 11/16/13, please let us know so we can refund your donation.
As always, thank you for always supporting Red Balloon and your continued generosity and support.
We are well on our way to Red Balloon Day!! 🙂
Still want to be apart of the magic? Consider donating to Red Balloon Day. Your donations will go towards UC Davis Children’s Hospital to support their ongoing music therapy program. You will also be helping Music is Medicine, a non-profit organization that brings together musicians and seriously-ill children together to raise awareness for terminally ill pediatric diseases.

All my Love & Red Balloons,
Jennifer Allison Tran,
P.S. And if you’re in the Bay Area, ask us what we’re up to on Nov 16, 2013. Here’s a hint: it involves singing to little humans.
Project Red Balloon is proud to announce its second annual RED BALLOON DAY on November 16, 2013; 24 hours where people like you can change your local community with music. Last year, we had an amazing turnout with people going to hospitals, senior centers and elementary schools to share their love for music with others. It was so heartwarming to read and watch your stories.
This year, we want to keep singing to the beat of our hearts. If you or your friends or your high school club are interested in being apart of Red Balloon Day, please email us at redballoon(dot)staff(at)gmail.com. We can’t wait to hear what amazing things you will all do in the fall!
Need some inspiration? Meet our friends who’ve touched many senior residents’ lives with music. Zoe Lee and her talented friends from San Jose, CA reached out to us about their Red Balloon adventures last year. These musicians wanted to bring some cheer into our geriatric population so they went to senior resident homes to share their love of music.

Dearest Red Balloons,
Happy June!! On behalf of my golden birthday (I’m turning 25!!!), I wanted an opportunity to do something great. I wanted to complete 25 acts of kindness in the days leading up to my birthday to give back to the community as much as I have received.
To start, let’s fundraise for music therapy! Please view and share with all your friends and networks 🙂 From June 1-25, sponsors will donate a penny per view to Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach to ensure that every future pediatric patient will have the opportunity to have music as part of their healing process.
Let us know what random acts of kindness you’re seen or completed from June 1-25th. Feel free to email us or leave a comment below to let us know what you’ve been up to so we can also follow along in your kindness journey!
Much Love & Red Balloons,
Jennifer A. Tran,
Red Balloon partners with Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach to release Fundraiser Video
On June 1, 2013, Project Red Balloon will release a fundraiser video called “Spend A Day With Me” to raise awareness and funds for Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, a highly acclaimed hospital dedicated to the care of children. Project Red Balloon, a not-for-profit organization, sponsors and sustains music therapy programs for children hospitals as well as organizes annual benefit concerts to bring awareness about music therapy and coordinates “Red Balloon Day,” a day dedicated to the youth giving back to their communities through music. Their mission is to combine the power of music with medicine, believing that something as simple as a red balloon can change a child’s life. As part of their “25 Days of RED Balloons” campaign, they are collaborating with Miller Children’s to raise needed funds for their music therapy program. 100 percent of this fundraiser will be donated to Miller Children’s.
For every view that the video receives from June 1-25th, 2013, sponsors will each donate a penny. With two sponsors for example, each view will guarantee a donation of 2 cents towards promoting music therapy for children. Sponsors may also choose to cap the amount they donate. People can sign up to become a sponsor at any time before the end of the fundraiser by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please consider helping in any way possible, whether it’s becoming a sponsor, watching the video, or sharing the video.

After a few months hiatus, we’re back and full steam ahead for our upcoming year. Before we get into the news about our 2013 plans, we want to look back at some of the amazing Red Balloons we met in 2012.
First up…Jadey Monique Gonzalez & Jesson Rata.
These two fabulous individuals took their talent and time to UC Davis Children’s Hospital and serenaded the kids and hospital staff. Their gigantic hearts took them far as they charmed in entire pediatric ward. We are so lucky and thankful to have Jadey and Jesson on board with Red Balloon!
“During that short amount of time, we were able to relieve stress and worries from staff members and families alike. The experience was both humbling and rewarding that applause and positive feedback from the staff, the parents, and the kids were validations of why we love what we do; our Red Balloon Event gave us more motivation and inspiration to continue spreading our love and passion for music” – Jesson
“I gained a new appreciation and understanding of the power of music, especially in the form of music therapy for pediatric patients, their families, and hospital staff too. Like families and friends, music has its own way of comforting us, supporting us, and helping us feel more than we can say or explain at a moment; sometimes, it can be hard for us to put into words and express to others how we feel, whether it’s happy or sad, calm or stirring. But music and performances of music can help explain what we go through and what we should remember as we go, as we fall then rise come what may. I feel very blessed and honored to be a musical artist and I am so grateful for others who appreciate the love and power of music as well because together, we are changing our local communities and our world one song at a time.” – Jadey

December 8, 2012
My dearest Red Balloons,
In 2012, I decided to take Red Balloon into a different direction and rebuild it from the ground up; I wanted to give others the opportunity to create their own Red Balloon benefits and to be inspired to make a difference in their own communities. I created the foundation and encouraged high school and college students to find their own niche and use music to help someone else breathe easier with their lives. Their stories and experiences poured in and I could see that this Red Balloon idea has become a lot bigger than I had ever imagined.
Red Balloon started off as an idea; inspired by the movie of the same name, I wanted to find simple things, like a red balloon, to change a child’s life. Six years, seven benefit concerts and one hospital benefit tour later, the idea still resonates strong. And none of this could be possible with you; you have given these children a piece of their happy endings back.
2013 will be a new year for Red Balloon and unfortunately, it will be my last year as executive director. But don’t fret, I have some unfinished dreams with Red Balloon that I plan to make into reality next year. And I hope you will here to join me on this last chapter of my Red Balloon story. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for supporting and being apart of Red Balloon. Thank you for believing in me and encouraging me to step to the beat of my heart. I can never articulate how thankful I am for you, your guidance and your support. In each of you, I see how I can be a better person; in each of you, I see how lucky I am to be apart of a compassionate generation.
I am Pascal and you are my red balloons; all I am is because of all of you.
Love, hugs & happy holidays!!
Jennifer Allison Tran,
Red Balloon Executive Director
